[A printing method consisting of a] printed pattern ... transferred from printed transfer paper onto the fabric by passing both over a heated roller.

OBS

The paper, which is printed with volatile dyes, is heated for 30 seconds at temperatures of up to 200°C. The dyestuff transfers to the textile by sublimation. The advantage of this type of printing is that no other chemicals are used and no other processes are required to finish the cloth.

Une autre méthode plus moderne d'impression est appelée transfert ou impression par transfert. Elle consiste à transférer en une seule fois l'ensemble du motif sur le tissu à partir d'un papier spécial, en utilisant la chaleur ou la pression. Les dessins imprimés peuvent être appliqués aux fils, aux étoffes ou sur des vêtements fabriqués.

The process of decorating ceramic ware by inking an engraved copper plate with an ink prepared from one of the metallic oxides, and then transferring the design to paper which, while the pigment was still wet, was pressed on to the ware leaving the desired imprint which was subsequently fixed by firing.

Transfer printing. The transfer print made from a copper plate was first used in England in the 18th century. In the 20th century transfers from copper plates are in common use for commercial wares .... Combinations of hand-painted and transfer decorations are often used. The outline or other part of the decoration is put on with a transfer print, then parts of the design, such as leaves, flowers, clothing, or water, are painted in.
